The tyrannosaurus rex was a bipedal (two-footed), and a carnivorous theropod. Its name is derived from the Greek, meaning "tyrant king lizard".

The T-Rex lived at the end of the Cretaceous period, about 65-67 million years ago, at a region where is now western North America.

This was not long before the mass extinction that is thought to have ended the dinosaur era.
